Paying for and constructing the wheelchair friendly boardwalk at Corrigans Beach was a huge community effort.
The material was funded by the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club, an anonymous local donor, some cash from The Bay Push and a hefty discount from the material supplier. On top of that, The Bay Push members, locals and even the material salesman who travelled down from Sydney for a couple of days supplied the labour. Freight from Ballarat to Sydney was paid for by a member of Variety the Childrens Charity and local transporter Tatum provided free freight from Sydney.
There are some good people out there.
The boardwalk can be used by all forms of wheelchairs, prams and kiddies bikes and scooters. We’ve even had a motorised disability transporter access the beach.
The Boardwalk is open for free public use and enquiries may be made to Clyde View Caravan Park at Reception on – 4472 4224
